Tips for Newbies – Keywords Are Worth Investigating
In the Internet world, choosing the right “keyword” or “key phrase” to appear on your web page is critical. That’s because people type in words (or phrases) in the search engines when they are trying to find something. Many “newbie” web designers argue that keywords are irrelevant and instead, choose to spend a lot of time making graphics. If used tastefully, images or fancy flash introductions can make a web site impressive looking. Ultimately, and despite all the work, this effort is not going to deliver web traffic from the search engines. That’s because images are not searchable. Words are what are used to find things on the Internet.
When we’re familiar with our niche — such as handmade pottery, for instance — we can intuit certain keywords or phrases that have to do with our business. I used to do this and would have some hit and miss lucky streaks. When I learned that there are ways to understand what people were really searching for, I was shocked. What I thought was relevant was not necessarily on target. To see what I mean, the best thing you can do is to identify what you think are your top five keywords and then run some tests.
Quick Tips on Finding Keywords or Phrases
One way to discover actual keyword searches used by Internet surfers is Google’s keyword tool at https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal. Type in your “main” keyword (handmade pottery, for instance) and then have the Keyword Tool pull related keywords. You’ll find out the words that are actually used in Google by searchers, and will also discover the volume of searches conducted over a 12-month period. Incorporate the good words into the textual content of your web pages.
NicheBot is a fantastic online program to find hidden keywords or phrases, and it will report how competitive those words are. Not only does NicheBot deliver a lot of helpful tutorials, but you will get the top 1,000 keywords (where available) from WordTracker, Keyword Discovery and a set of keywords that are split up by theme with the 1-Click LSI Keywords tool (using Google’s Paid API Keyword Engine). There are many other ways to find relevant keywords or phrases, but the above two methods should get you well on your way.
The Missing Link – Content That Uses Profitable Keywords
Looking for keywords or phrases is one thing; using them is quite another. The “good” words should appear in the text of your web pages and/or the URL filenames for your individual pages. And this is the challenge most of us face: How on earth do we write about our products or services and incorporate good words into our text?

When it comes to content that delivers profitable keywords that will have you ranking in the top ten or twenty results of the search engines, I highly recommend Mike Leibner’s “Article Underground.” Mike is, in my view, the undisputed King of the Keyword Universe. That’s because when it comes to keywords, he knows how to pick ‘em!
As part of your Article Underground membership, you receive 400 articles a month that are written to emphasize certain keywords or phrases that will trigger search engine traffic. You change the articles around a bit so that you have something unique to publish on your website and lo and behold, with some linking and promotion, you will start seeing some serious search engine traffic. If your web pages are done right, you should also start seeing some profit.
The phrases and words that Mike chooses are remarkably successful. I don’t quite understand how he identifies the “winners,” but he is generally right on target in identifying words that attract readers.
Not all of the articles you receive from Article Underground will relate to your niche, but with some creativity, you can use a big percentage of them. For instance, let’s say that you receive an article about how to avoid scratching your oak tabletop. Using our example above, if you have a site about handmade pottery, you can tweak the article so that it has to do with how to avoid scratches when you decorate your oak table with one-of-a-kind handmade pottery items. (These are not necessarily good keywords in the example; I am using them to illustrate how you can use your 400 articles.)

There is also an active forum where you can ask questions on just about anything, from how to build your website to how to get traffic.
