Getting links that point to your website is important if you want to get good page rank and higher results in the search engines. Because of the overwhelming amount of link submissions most directories receive, it takes a long time to review and approve sites for the directory. What this means for you, the website owner, is that it might be several days, if not weeks, until your site is listed. I’ve been keeping a tally of directories that are free and approve links within 24 hours. You can see the my first batch of results here.
Here’s an appended list of the super fast directory services. The Page Rank and Alexa information is valid as of October 2, 2008, but this information will change over time. As these directories become more popular, the approval turnaround time will undoubtedly change.
Most of these have a 0 page rank, but they are indexed in Google. Your link might not carry a lot of weight with these directories, but for a new site, using the fast directories will help get your home page indexed quickly. Over time, and if the directories last, they will gain page rank and help you in the long run.
