Still on the Fence?
If you’ve listened to all three presidential debates and still don’t know who to vote for, it’s perfectly understandable. The debates are limited to the Democrat and Republican parties and seem to be nothing more than a collage of rhetoric that we’ve heard over and over again.
A site called Glass Booth goes beyond the scripted statements uttered in the debates and takes a look at the real issues. The site offers a quiz that helps you identify the issues that are important to you (there are 20 “points” that you split up and assign to various issues so that the poll can determine what’s important to you). Once your top issues are identified, Glass Booth’s quiz has you choose your opinion about a variety of subjects. Your choices will range from “strongly support” to “strongly oppose.” You then find out what candidate is the most aligned with your views.
What is nice about the quiz is that it gives you each candidates’ voting record (if available) and campaign statements concerning the issues that are important to you. For me, I was somewhat surprised to see how similar some of the candidates’ views were with mine:
88% - Bob Barr
65% - Cynthia McKinney
61% - John McCain
58% - Ralph Nader
46% - Barrack Obama
Take the quiz to see how the candidates fare with your views. You might be surprised by the results, too. For instance, a friend of mine who thinks Obama would be the best president took this quiz. It turned out that Cynthia McKinney and Bob Barr were much more closely aligned with my friend’s “issues” and Obama was the least aligned. Glass Booth’s quiz goes beyond personalities, providing a factual and realistic way to understand which candidate best matches your philosophy — and which candidate truly deserves your vote.
