It’s finally over. The “robo calls” from politicians, the sea of political signs, and in some cases with respect to ballot initiatives, name calling and shouting.
The Halo Effect was 100% Accurate
It was such an amazing thing to watch history unfold, and although I am in that tiny little group of people who voted Libertarian because of the issues I personally believe in, I have to admit that it was truly inspiring to watch Obama’s speech. I also found McCain’s speech inspiring. Given the negative political climate that the GOP created under Bush & Company, Senator McCain did amazingly well and captured much more of the vote than I thought he would. His speech was thoughtful, gracious and eloquent — and reminiscent of the “old John McCain” that used to break from the extreme right.
Nonetheless, none of this was surprising to me given the “halo effect” I wrote about in early September.
Technology Rocks!
Another big winner in this election cycle was the Internet, which demonstrated technology’s capacity for fund-raising, accountability (all those YouTube videos), social networking, and independent reporting in the blogs. Given this new trend , I am willing to bet that Internet regulation is going to be a huge topic in the upcoming years.
A very cool technological thing that appeared this election was CNN’s hologram. I thought this was absolutely revolutionary. The implications are huge.
Get Inspired
Many have been inspired with this election cycle. I hope that this inspiration translates to a fresh new perspective on what we can do with our online businesses. Indeed, it’s the dawn of a new day.
