Google’s Awesome Tools for Webmasters & Bloggers – Google Insights
Google has been rolling out some excellent tools lately that will benefit any webmaster or blogger. If you are a mom and pop business person or use your computer to make money from home, you need to check these things out. There are a few reasons, including but not limited to:
- You might carry some of the products that people are seeking. If that’s the case, get your sales pages up for the product and promote it to attract hungry customers.
- Structure your sales pages or other written content around some of the popular keywords. In other words, use the keywords in your text and if possible, hyperlink them.
- Use the keywords or phrases in your blogs and other promotions.
Most mom and pop business owners work at least 10-12 hours a day maintaining their brick and mortar stores, and they don’t have time to learn all about keywords and key phrases. This article is one of a few articles I’ll be posting to give you, the small business person, some quick, easy and free tips to identify good keywords and phrases.
Discover Targeted Trends at Google Insights.
To find out what searches are “hot” in Google, take a look at Google’s Hot Trends, which is updated every hour. Here’s a partial screen capture of what’s hot as of this writing (November 22):
With the holidays coming and people looking for bargains, I’ve noticed that the hot trends so far this month include specific merchandise and/or general terms such as “coupons.” During other seasons throughout the year, it seems that most of the “hot” search activity includes a lot of celebrity searches or key phrases related to the daily news. Personally, I do not find celebrity gossip very interesting or worth my time reading, so my hot trends research is usually a fast perusal of the list. There are other options to hone in on hot trends that I’ll write about later, but for now, I’d like to show you another great Google service that you can use for your keyword trend research: Google Insights.
A Real Life Example of “Fine Tuning” Your Hot Keywords.
I put together a video tutorial that shows you how to fine tune the “hot trends” that may relate to your business or niche. Don’t worry about trying to write down the URLs while the video is playing … the links are re-posted following the video.
Here are the Links Again.
