Keeping it simple, without the hype. PC tips and Internet advice for mom and pop businesses.
After Thanksgiving dinner, I decided to do something about one of many unused domains sitting around and earning maybe a penny or two a month on a parking service. I had recently listened to an audio on Jeff Johnson’s site in which he talked with a guy who had the same situation — a lot of parked domains. The man Jeff was interviewing started pulling in an incredible amount of traffic and making money with his unused domains by putting up simple blogs. These blogs were built with free software that Jeff was giving away.
I was a bit skeptical but decided to try it out. After all, the domains had been sitting around for years until I could find the time to get them done and I had nothing to lose.
The Free Software.
First, let’s take a look at the free software that Jeff lets everyone download. Jeff calls it the “Free SEO Blog Software” and he claims that it is literally one of the best pieces of traffic-getting software out there today.
What it is is a modified version of WordPress which, of course, is free. Rather than auto-installing Wordpress from Fantastico within your control panel, upload this software using your favorite FTP tool and install it using the quick and easy “Wordpress 5-minute install” (there are videos on Jeff’s site if you don’t understand this).
The Test Results.
Understand that this is a new website. The domain is a couple years old and resided at a parking service. I installed the software and started adding content Thanksgiving night. You can see the daily visits in the image below …
… and the search engine spiders visiting the site:
Now, at the 10th day of December, things are really getting sweet. I am quite shocked, to be honest with you. Here is the traffic as of this morning:
Here are the daily visits during the first ten days of this month (it’s only 8 in the morning here on the 10th). Remember, this is a site that was parked and had no content prior to Thanksgiving night:
The search engines are constantly crawling the site:
Here is a partial snapshot of all of the keywords that are drawing in traffic just from Google alone. As you can see, 58 different phrases have brought in traffic.
What is amazing about this is that the site is barely two weeks old and I have done little to promote it. This was a parked domain that had maybe three or four visits a month on the domain parking service and was doing good if it earned 2 cents a month. I haven’t taken a snapshot yet, but I can assure you that I’ve had Adsense revenue already and have had quite a few nibblers at the affiliate programs that are being promoted. I suspect that in a month or two, this site will start generating sales.
Here are the statistics as of this morning, using SEO Quake to report on them:
If you’re not familiar with SEO Quake, here’s what the above toolbar is reporting:
- There is a Google page rank of 0; 106 pages are indexed at Google.
- 1 page is indexed at Yahoo.
- 1 page is indexed at MSN.
- The site currently has an Alexa traffic rank of 1,772,870.
Conclusion.
I’ve been around long enough to know that there are a lot of “fantastic” claims out there by Internet marketers that result in nothing, unless you expend a lot of hard work and extra money to tap into the magic formula promoted. This one blew my mind because it actually works and costs nothing.
The software doesn’t expire, you can install it on as many websites as you’d like and there are no hidden fees. Better yet, Jeff even teaches you how to get more traffic with the software for free.
Here’s a recap:
- The software is free, that’s why he calls it Free SEO Blog Software.
- It’s dead-simple to use.
- He teaches you how to use it for free.
- No funny stuff, the software is yours to keep.
Jeff has proven that it works, and I hope I have, too, with my little 10-day experiment. Tens of thousands of people are currently using it with unbelievable success.
Check it out for yourself. Download your free software here and transform your “dead” websites. I personally have quite a few inactive domains that I am going to update with the software because it is well worth my while. It will be worth your time to use it, too. After all, it’s free and you have nothing to lose. Here’s the link again: Free SEO Blog Software.

Wow! I gotta try this myself. Sadly though I still have to buy a domain. I’m still saving up to get a few domains myself and when I get my hand on even one, I’m gonna try this for sure. Thanks for the info.
It would be great if it came with updates. From a security point of view I find it dangerous to keep the same old script with possible know vulnerabilities that were already fixed in newer versions of blogs
You should also try SEO for Firefox, I think it’s even better than SEO Quake.
I also use SEO for Firefox, but with the recent Firefox upgrades, have found that SEO Quake works better for me. Both are excellent add-ons. I have both of them installed.
I get my hand on even one, I’m gonna try this for sure.
Definitely download and use it. It’s free. Now, it’s in plugin form so you can add it to your existing blogs.
