To get a realistic assessment of what your website (or blog) is worth, it is best to get an appraisal from industry professionals. However, I just stumbled upon a pretty sweet online tool that takes into account:
- How long your site has been online;
- The popularity of your website;
- The “friendliness” of your website, which has to do with the types of sites that are linking to your site;
- The interest level your site generates, based on page views per session;
- The number of links pointing toward your site; and
- The number of pages on the site.
The “Your Website Value” service seems to be a bit more comprehensive than many of the other online web evaluation services available. As the valuation site admits, it does not take into account the size of your mailing list or volume of sales. For a content-based site, however, the service is quite comprehensive.
“Your Website Value” also provides a Firefox add-on, which can come in handy when you are analyzing your competition. All you need to do is right click on the add-on that resides in your browser’s system tray and a page will open up which immediately starts analyzing the value of the site that you are visiting.
It’s fun to check out the value of your site. If you are planning on selling it, however, it is best to buy an appraisal.
So what’s this blog worth? I have no idea how accurate it is, but here’s Your Website Value’s assessment of Not Guru. I had to take a screenshot because the cut-and-paste code wouldn’t read on the blog.
