A couple of days ago, I posted an article about blog maintenance for newbies. The article showed how to update plugins within the Wordpress administration area.
Most of my blogs — as well as the blogs for the brand new sites we’ve talking about here — are running on Jeff Johnson’s SEO blog software and have the Wordpress automatic plugin update installed.
There was a conflict between the new Wordpress “automatic upgrade” and the plugin. That’s been fixed as of this as of this morning.
When you log into your administrative area of your blog, you should see a plugin update alert in the left column of your dashboard.
After clicking the alert, you’ll see that there is an upgrade available for the “Wordpress Automatic Upgrade” plugin that has been released. This will resolve the conflict between the plugin and Wordpress. Just like we talked about in the blog maintenance for newbies article a couple of days ago, upgrade the plugin by clicking the automatic upgrade feature.
Once you have upgraded the plugin, you should see at the top of your screen a notice that gives you the option to automatically upgrade to version 2.7.1. Select the top line, as shown in the screen shot.
Follow the prompts, be sure to download the database backups, and you’re set to go! This process will take about 5 minutes.
