One of the fastest, easiest ways to get search engine traffic and links to your blog is to submit the blog’s RSS feed.
If you have a Wordpress blog, your template should automatically come with a link to your feed so that you can quickly find the address. Generally, when you are using Wordpress, your feed will be:
http://www.yourblogcom./feed
Once you’ve identified your RSS address, submit it to all the major syndication services. I use Bookmarking Demon, which is a paid program; however, if you’re looking for a free program that will do the trick, try RSS Announcer. I’ve used it and it’s pretty good. It will automatically submit to all of the major services.
Another place you should submit to is Peter Drew’s Bad RSS. Bad RSS is a free service that has some pretty cool features. For instance, if you have several feeds, you can consolidate them with the RSS Merger. This comes in handy if you have some supplemental blogs that you’ve created for linking purposes and want to run some feeds on for fresh content. I also like the fact that Pete’s service lets you see how many people have viewed and subscribed to your feed. Here’s a screen shot of the user management area at Bad RSS:
You’ll see on the Bad RSS site a link with the most popular feeds. Some of these are getting 500, 600 or more views. That’s pretty impressive!
