Keeping it simple, without the hype. PC tips and Internet advice for mom and pop businesses.
It’s amazing how yucky your keyboard can get in just a few short days. I keep a constant supply of “air in a can” around to keep it clean.
When I visit some offices to fix computers, I’m sometimes appalled at how nasty some keyboards have become. There’s goop spilled on them; chunks of food embedded under the keys; and sort of a brown, sticky substance on the keys themselves that have me running to the nearest source of soap and water.
When it’s really bad, you can unplug the computer and keyboard, take the individual keys off and soak them in soap and water. Clean the remainder of the board while they’re soaking. Do this only when you have a truly appalling mess to deal with.
Another surefire way to clean up the keyboard — that’s easier than taking off the keys – is to use a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol. Combined with blasting air on the keys to dislodge particles, this works pretty well.
