I honestly did not think anything like this could happen, and I am still not sure that it is real.
At the end of the 3rd week of February, I created a site so that people could post articles and get back links. The site reports on various religious issues, separation of church and state, and other matters that I find interesting.
Quite frankly, I think that with the rising number of people who profess no religion, the role of religion in the political and educational systems is going to become a hot topic, so I have been looking at this site in terms of its future value.
But never in a million years did I think it would get high page rank in a matter of weeks.
Thursday, I logged on and saw that my Google Toolbar was showing it as having a PR 5. Confused, I checked it on various page rank sites and they are all reporting a PR 5.
The only things that I can think of that would create this, for such a new site, are:
- Some kind of a weird script that I can’t find somehow got loaded into the site, creating a “fake” page rank; or
- Jeff Johnson’s free SEO blog software that powers the site is more powerful than I had imagined; or
- The handful of links that I used from Easy Backlinks Reports (I wrote about this yesterday) are giving a huge, huge boost; or
- There is some kind of Google glitch going on.
Here’s a screen shot showing that the site is still reporting a Page Rank of 5:

If this is real, you ought to post an article there — it’s free and you get a back link. It’s also a “do follow” comment blog. Some of the articles are meant to be controversial or thought provoking in order to illicit discussion, so comment and get your links. As long as comments or articles are not too extreme, we’ll publish them.
From a web publisher’s perspective, have any of you seen anything like this recently? I’m really curious as to whether there is some kind of glitch happening or if the SEO blog software and back links reports are what are causing this. If so, they may be the some of the most important tools you could ever use in your Internet publishing venture. Here are the links:
FREE SEO Blog Software – super easy to install; instructional videos are provided upon signup.
Easy Backlink Builder – $5 monthly reports with sites having PR6 and higher that offer free backlinks, via comments or other linking strategies. These reports show step-by-step screen shots that give all the tips and tricks needed to get your link published.
Please comment below and let us know if you are seeing the same kind of jump in your page ranks.

Maybe this is just a way for Google to make it harder to figure out the Google algorithm. The longer it takes between doing something to improve PR and the time you get feedback on that bar, the harder it will be to figure out what you did right or wrong
Making it harder to figure out could very well be!
Have you done much off-line marketing to get traffic to the site. That’s incredible ive not heard of anyone achieving this kind of result before.
Actually, I haven’t. I’ve noticed that page rank has been updated across the board as of last night, but still, PR 5 immediately is incredible. Tomorrow I’ll post some screen shots to prove what I am saying is the truth.
WoW, You done really hard and great Work on it ? its Really impossible Thing but you done it huh ? Simply Awesome
A PR 5 in 6 weeks is good. I had a PR 4 in close to 4 weeks with very little linking…then it dropped down to a PR 3 a few weeks after that. Have you noticed any increase in traffic?
So far, yes, there’s been an increase. PR 4 in 4 weeks is awfully good.
I see that you’re down to a PR4. Did you change anything?
Hi Mikael -
Actually, I’ve been concentrating on traffic. Guess I need to start back linking again soon! Still not bad, considering the age of the site.
Best wishes!
Hi Urbain
The debate about the importance of PR continues….I have quite a few friends in the industry who claim it’s not important but it’s hard not to get excited when you have a PR 5! Even though when I checked just now it dropped to a 4 it still doesn’t detract from the fact that you did it and in such a short time span.
I found out about your cool site from the forum we’re both part of and agree with Jim on the fact that the major part of your site’s stickiness is probably due to the nature of the topic. Controversial and stimulating is something we all should strive to create when building a site and that’s pretty much what you’ve done.
Bravo and congrats
Mark
