A splog — known as a spam blog — is a fake blog that is created to promoteĀ another web site by creating back links to the site or affiliate page being promoted.
These sites are artificially created, The content might be a long winded ad but most of them have no original content and have a mix of nonsense or stolen content. Splogs use targeted keywords on their pages so that the splog links turn up in blog search results.
On its free blogging platforms, Google has implemented touring tests and captcha codes in an effort to curtail splogging. Nonetheless, blogging software can get around these efforts and automatically create thousands of splogs.

Protecting Your Content.
Legitimate bloggers are getting upset about their content constantly being stolen and used without attribution on splogs.

Another thing to do is to change your RSS feed so that it only gives summaries of your content, rather than printing the whole article. Full article RSS feeds are attributed to making sploggers’ jobs easier.
