I have been using the free SEO plugin that Jeff Johnson gives away and have been quite pleased with it.
What’s nice about it is that you can install it on any existing blog. In fact, I installed it on this one.
The most noticeable change I have seen is the reduction of spam. Back in March, I was receiving at least 50 spam comments a day that were being filtered with Akismet and landing in the “spam” folder. The problem was, I had to review the spam folder to make sure good comments weren’t being deleted Akismet. After installing the SEO plugin, I now receive at a maximum 2 comments in the spam box a day, and most of the time, they are legitimate comments. Boiled down, the plugin has saved me a tremendous amount of time in weeding through potential spam comments.
The SEO plugin uses existing Wordpress plugins but tweaks them so that they are more effective. What you will see if you use it that you have more tags, more pages are indexed in the search engines, and your traffic will go up.
If you are able to click your mouse, you are able to install the plugin. It takes just a few steps that Jeff documents in his tutorials. In just five minutes or so, you will have your blog optimized.
I am at the point where every single blog that I set up includes the SEO plugin.
The plugin is free. You can get it here.
