Your standard WordPress installation adds the “do not follow” tag to comments. This could be useful if you have a lot of spam; however, many of us are finding that more visitors will stop by and join in on the conversation if the blog follows the links in comments.
There’s an excellent plugin called Do Follow Plugin For WordPress. I could not find this in the automatic plugin installation section of the WordPress dashboard, so I think this is a plugin that you will need to download, unzip, and install by FTP. But it’s worth the effort.
Some have argued that having the “Do Follow” attribute will diminish your blog’s page rank. I have personally found that this is not the case, and it seems the folks over at Semilogic would agree. They write that there is no difference between the amount of comment spam that comes in if you have the “no follow” attribute, and I agree. Jeff Johnson’s SEO plugin has done an incredible job for me in detecting and blocking comment spam. Before using it, I’d have to sort through and delete hundreds of spam comments a day on each blog, regardless of whether they followed or did not follow comments. Johnson’s free plugin took care of that problem.
Once you have installed your “do follow” plugin, you’ll want some traffic. Do a search on Google for “do follow” blog directories. In my experience, the site that has delivered steady comment traffic is Nickoo Shore’s Nicusor blog.

Dofollow comments mean couple things. First of all more commenters, this means better discussions and more content. You should also get featured on some “dofollow blogs” lists which will add couple nice backlinks to your site. You can’t go wrong with dofollow comments.

Its also a nice way to pay back your users for commenting. A security verification should block any spam that comes with it.
As Google continues to refine their algorithm to discount spammy links and moves toward semantic search, and considering that most blogs have a low pagerank, I don’t foresee the benefit of do follow links continuing much longer. I also think this will contribute to Google losing relevance as eventually the only search results you will get are for mega conglomerate organizations that have been around forever.
This is very informative, I agree comments provide good content and discussions.
Is it really wont effect to page rank, if we setup the dofollow attribute to the comments?
well i think i’m gonna remove nofollow attribute on my web now ^^
