One of the easiest ways to add images to your blog posts, especially if you are writing tutorial types of articles, is to use your screen capture utility that comes with your graphics programs.
The problem I have had with the more expensive graphics programs is that the programs take up many system resources, causing the system to drag.
There’s a solution — and it’s free. IrfanView is a fantastic image program that will cost you nothing and takes very little system resources. I use it almost 100% of the time for screen capturing and highly recommend the program for anyone who does not have image editing software because it is so easy to use and is quite reliable.
To handle your screen shots, open your IrfanView program. Select the OPTIONS link and then select Capture/Screenshot as shown below.
Next, select what you want to capture … whether it’s the full screen, foreground window and so forth. I like the Hot Key method using the control and F11 keyboard option. This is the default that will come with your software.
After you press the Control and F11 buttons at the same time, your captured image will automatically appear in your software program. You can modify the image and, as being done in the example below, select a portion of the image and crop it.
After you have cropped and modified your image to your satisfaction, save it to where you will easily locate it. From your blog dashboard, click the media/add new and select the file you want to upload.

This process only takes a few minutes. The main benefit for me has been the speed at which IrfanView processes images. It is a lightweight and robust program that you’re going to enjoy.
