When it comes to Internet search engine use, Google dominates the market, with 65% of United States Internet users using Google and an even higher percentage overseas. Yahoo and Microsoft have reached an agreement to partner together with Bing to attempt to create some competition. Bing was launched in June with a $100 million advertising budget.
Will it work?
Bing will be integrated into Yahoo’s search engine sometime next year. I know that as to Microsoft’s efforts, I’m starting to see an increase in Bing traffic on various websites, particularly active blogs. In some cases, I’m seeing more Bing traffic than Google traffic. However, I tend to agree with some of the experts in the news clip below that it’s going to be tough to compete with Google.
One thing I am looking forward to seeing is whether or not Microsoft and Yahoo will combine efforts to create a program that is similar to Adsense and Adwords.

I am also looking forward for the advertising system of this new partnership. I hear that they have something in BETA testing. Some stuff from Microsoft. We will see soon if something will be delivered to the market for us webmasters. To bring some competition and advantages for us web masters.
Google has become such a giant in search engine market that Yahoo and Microsoft had to join hands to beat its rival. With a 65% market share it doesn’t look easy though.
I agree … a 65% market share is going to be a tough nut to crack.
