Keeping it simple, without the hype. PC tips and Internet advice for mom and pop businesses.
This is an ongoing series about a brand new website, using tools I talk about here in this blog. Will it succeed? Will it fail? Who knows. I’m showing step-by-step every single thing I’m doing to build and then market a site that never existed before October 4, 2009. So, you know as much as I do about how this will end … It’s a mystery! If you’re new to owning a site online, I hope this is helpful.
To monetize this site, I am marketing affiliate products for cellulite reduction and will be adding some Adsense, too.
Yesterday I got the domain and hosting after doing some keyword research.
I have decided to design the site in a way that’s going to be easy for me to maintain and so that the search engines will keep coming back. I don’t think there is any kind of right way or wrong way for site structure, so long as the linking is good, understandable from the visitor’s perspective, and there aren’t orphan pages. Here’s what I plan on doing:
- Home Page – A Clickbank product with lead capture that is linked to three subsections.
- A product review blog;
- A “cellulite store;” and
- Articles and news.
- Terms and conditions;Privacy Statement.
- Site Map.
I spent a few hours working on configuring the reseller account, installing blogs (they’re not yet configured) and getting some content ready for upload. Here’s the home page now:

The Product Review Section.
This is going to be running on its own blog that is part of the domain. I use Amazon product feeds, using ATM Professional … which is an awesome piece of software from Jeff Johnson. To find out how you can get yours, sign up for Jeff’s free SEO Plugin fro your Wordpress blogs.
I already had a list of some keywords specifically related to products which I used. ATM Pro can also extract powerful keyword lists from Amazon if you don’t want to create product feeds. This is one of my most favorite pieces of software that has paid for itself over and over again. Here’s a shot of ATM Pro at work:

Since I want this particular section to be product reviews only, I edited the RSS feeds created by ATM Pro to remove the products that had no reviews.

The Cellulite Store.
I then went to DataFeedr and started working on my product feeds for an online store. If you’re building HTML pages with affiliate products, you might want to consider switching to something that’s more automatic and that you can update on the fly. Here’s a sneak peak into the store builder area:

Instead of struggling with configuring datafeeds, DataFeedr lets you select your affiliate programs (you must be a member of them — they’re free) and then it extracts products that are based on your search parameters. I highly recommend this product — It’s easy to use and saves a lot of time and aggravation.
Content.
I am currently working on rewriting about 100 PLR articles that will be uploaded in the content area of the blog. Hopefully, I’ll have it done today!
See you tomorrow!

Aack~ I noticed that you already finished your cellulite study, and I’m still just on the second part. Trying my best to keep up though.
I wonder why kardashian cellulite is one of the keywords… LOL!
