The Cellulite Case Study – Part 3

Posted on October 6th, 2009 by Urbain

In the ongoing experiment, I spent time on Day 2 configuring the blogs that will make up the site.

First, I installed blogs for product reviews, a store featuring cellulite removal products, and a news and information blog that will carry articles and stories.

Here are the plugins that were installed:

  • Jeff Johnson’s SEO blog plugin (free);
  • Delete Duplicate Posts;
  • Digg Digg;
  • Easy Adsense;
  • Google XML Sitemaps;
  • Google Analytics for WordPress;
  • Platinum SEO Pack;
  • WordPress Stats;
  • WordPress Related Posts;
  • WP Ajax Edit Comments;
  • WP Favicon; and
  • WordPress Backup (sends database to email).

I then installed Affiliate Themes to these blogs.  This is an excellent, time-saving program so that you can create your blog’s appearance quickly and on the fly without any CSS knowledge.

I decided I am going to use a very clean, white appearance with a larger type.  The first thing I did was to create a graphical header using the free xHeader program.  This program has dozens of pre-made templates with graphics; however, I decided to use a blank one and to add a graphic that was in one of the free graphics packages announced in a previous giveaway event.

I added text to the banner for the home page.

And then I created a “blank” banner with the same images for the blog pages.  The blogs, as I have them set up, will add text automatically.  This leads me to my next step, which was to create the blog appearance with Affiliate Themes.  Here’s a screen shot:

The appearance of the site — from the static front page to the blogs — will have a consistent, clean look.

Here’s a snapshot of one of the blog sections with no content in yet:

This work was done on Day 2 (October 5).  Content is being added, which we’ll look at next.  Eventually, we’ll get to the marketing and then see if this site makes any money!  But since this tutorial is geared for newbies, I am starting from scratch and showing each of my steps.

See you tomorrow!
