Keeping it simple, without the hype. PC tips and Internet advice for mom and pop businesses.
Last night, I finally finished the CelluliteIs.com site. I have some more autoresponder messages to write and some other things to do, but for now, there’s something workable to start sending traffic to. We started this project on October 4 with a domain and hosting purchase.
Currently, two pages of the blogs are listed in Google … they appeared when they were in maintenance mode when I was working on them. The site is not showing in Yahoo yet, nor is it showing in MSN. The Alexa rank is 7,168,695, so we have a long way to go!

Quick and Mindless Submissions Boost Traffic Within Hours.
It was going on 1 in the morning when I finished uploading everything. Here’s a snapshot of the traffic as of that time — you can see that there were 14 unique visitors.

I was really tired, so I did some quick and easy promotions that took less than 5 minutes and didn’t require any effort from my exhausted brain! As you’ll see from the stats, this 5-minute project yielded 84 unique visitors within hours. If you’re just starting a site out, you might want to do the same thing. These resources are free. Here’s what I did:
- I submitted the home page to the Link Cruncher directory, which has a PR3 and a ton of traffic. Submissions show in the directory immediately. You have to wait days, weeks and sometimes months on other PR3’s for a listing.
- I submitted the RSS feeds from the articles blog and the product reviews blog to Pete’s BadRSS site.
- I then submitted the site to Stumble Upon.
A little over 12 hours later, here’s what happened.
The unique visitor count jumped by 84 visits.

You can see that there were 95 visits on the 14th, not all of which were unique. I’ve shown the following image to illustrate that the site did not exist before October 4.

As of this morning, Google and an unknown spider have visited the site.

StumbleUpon delivered 101 hits (not all unique) and Google delivered another two hits as of this morning. A couple of people (not me) searched specifically for the domain, which accounted for the Google hits.

I have several deadlines to meet, but will keep reporting traffic and eventually revenue, using tools that I have talked about in this blog.
