This is my continuing report on whether a new site can actually make some money, using the tools and techniques talked about on this blog. Where I am at right now is getting the site indexed so it will have traffic. The domain was purchased on 10/4/09 and the site did not go “live” until 10/13/09.
Yesterday, I spent time writing, spinning and submitting articles. It takes time for submitted articles to show, but they will yield some great backlinks when accepted. From what I did yesterday, I hope to get at least 300 unique backlinks to the new site.
Before I started, the Alexa traffic rank was around 7 million. There were 114 unique visitors.
The search engines, particularly Google, were spending time crawling the site Thursday afternoon.
Promotion of the Home Page and the Storefront. The very first thing I did was write an article and submit it at the popular Ezine Articles. It takes a couple of days before articles are approved at Ezine Articles. I just checked on the status and it passed their quality control review and is pending final review. So that article should probably go live on Monday.
Promotion of the Home Page and Product Review Section. Next, I used Magic Article Rewriter and Spinner to spin an article and then submit it to relevant directories. What’s awesome about this software is that your registration process for 777 article directories (it says 700 on their sales page but it was updated to include more directories) is done automagically, using a Gmail account. What would have taken days to do was done for me in about half an hour. As you can see, 266 unique articles were submitted yesterday. If you are interested in saving time yet continuing to write quality material, I can’t recommend the Magic Article software enough. It is awesome.
Promotion of the Home Page and Product Review Section, with Specific Product. I then went to Article Marketing Automation and wrote a piece about cellulite reduction patches. This article will spin and gradually drip into an assortment of unique blogs. Here is the “desktop” area showing that the article went live. This was around 7:00 last night. This is another program that I highly recommend if you want to build unique one way links. It’s $47 a month now and will be going up to $500 a month, so you’ll need to get in soon if you want to take advantage of the $47 price lock.
What’s Happened So Far – Indexing and Search Engine Visits. At 4 days into having the live site, 5 pages are indexed in Google and 2 in Yahoo, according to the plugin I’m using.
The plugin is sort of slow when it comes to updating Alexa rank numbers. In reality, the 7,191,786 rank has jumped to 3,128,698.
Right now, two articles were posted through AMA. In time, I am hoping that at least 80 versions will be published, all providing unique links pointing to the site.
The activity so far has not yielded much in the way of actual unique visitors, but the search engines have been very busy. Here is the unique visitor count as of this posting.
As you can see from the following screen shot, there is a lot of activity from robots/spiders, meaning that the site should be indexed and appearing in the search engines, too. I suspect that this activity is coming because of (1) the posts at AMA and (2) the site’s articles and review blogs that are automatically updating with new content.
My next activity will be to submit “blurbs” to different blogs, creating more immediate links.
