If you're getting indexed, then your PageRank is being updated at least close to daily, you just can't see it yet. I had this same problem until I did some research and found out about this little "fluke", so to speak. It's completely intentional on Google's part, though. They don't want you to focus on PageRank, but having a high PageRank helps a lot, so people tend to focus on it anyway.
